The Bell Public House, Hempton

The Hempton Bell

Set in the ancient village of Hempton, on the outskirts of Fakenham, The Bell Public House has been the centre of the village community for around 400 years!

Some of our regulars look as they may have been its first customers but this rumour is probably unfounded.

Here, you can try our traditional ales in the bar or lounge or relax outside overlooking Hempton Common to enjoy the peace and beautiful Norfolk sunsets.

At the Bell the whole family – including well behaved children, dogs (and adults!) are assured of a warm welcome where the theme is Beer, Barter, Banter, Fun & Friendship.

We pride ourselves in beautifully kept ales

Beer Title

We pride ourselves in beautifully kept ales including Norfolk’s finest Woodfordes Wherry, John Smith’s Cask and ever– changing ‘Guest Ales’. Keg beers include Theakstons Best Bitter and John Smith’s Extra Smooth and a great selection of Lagers.

Barter Title

All sorts of (legal) things change hands at the Bell – from fresh eggs to freshly caught local seafood and a huge variety of trades are represented so, if you need a plumber, a builder, a lawyer or a computer expert to name a tiny few, you’re bound to find one here to give you some advice.

Banter Title

The Hempton Bell is always full of ‘wits’, both half or complete, so expect to hear raucous laughter ringing around the bar, generally at someone else’s expense. You may be included so be warned – but it will only be in fun!

Fun Title

Fun is what you make it but to help there are always some old pub games that are played regularly. ‘Dommies’, Crib, ‘Shut the Box’, Chess, ‘Pokey Die ’, Pool and darts – get involved or just watch & listen, you’ll have fun either way.

Friendship Title

The Hempton Bell is a place where lifelong friendships are born and any visitor will feel that atmosphere instantly. If all the pubs in the world were like the Bell there would be no such thing as counselling as that’s what friends are for – the advice might be rubbish but it takes your mind off the problem!

Whilst the Hempton Bell is not a food pub we do have various BBQ events throughout the year and can cater for special occasions and parties with a little notice. We also stock the usual bar nibbles which can be seen on our menu!

We have regular live music including … Open Folk Night.
